The Arrhythmology Department of Tbilisi Heart and Vascular Clinic offers outpatient and
inpatient care and diagnostics of any kind of arrhythmia.
Electrophysiological Study of the Heart is a specialized medical procedure that studies
the electrical activity of the heart.
The procedure is done by an electrophysiologist in Cathlab and involves the insertion of
catheters with electrodes into the heart, through the vessels.
Electrical activity of the heart is recorded by the electrodes, after analysis we can
determine and diagnose pathological rhythms (arrhythmias).
In addition, the procedure may involve artificial stimulation of the heart, to provoke
particular responses, collected data is used for making a detailed map of the conductive
system of the heart. The result helps a doctor select the most effective treatment which
may involve medications or procedures, such as catheter ablation.
Electrophysiological study plays the main role in the management and treatment of
arrhythmias.
Possible electrophysiological procedures are done at the clinic:
- Radiofrequency ablation
- Cryoablation
- Permanent pacemaker implantation
- Implantation of cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD)
- Implantation of pacemaker-synchronizer
- Resynchronize-defibrillator (CRT-D) implantation
- Cardioversion of tachyarrhythmias (electrical, pharmacological)
- Invasive electrophysiological study
